After having completed a BA in Economics and Languages in Amsterdam in 1989, Linnie moved to London to continue her education part time with her Masters in Property Investment. At the same time she worked for Gooch & Wagstaff, property advisers, in the investment department. In that role Linnie would advice clients on where and how to invest in their commercial real estate. She was also a co editor of a dictionary in real estate terms in 5 languages. This was published in 1992.

In 1994 Linnie moved to New York to take up a posting as Corporate Meeting Manager at the Netherlands Convention Bureau. Her role was to promote the Netherlands as a meeting destination to North American corporations. Linnie was awarded a reward for best performing newcomer in the Corporate Meeting Industry by the New York Chapter of Meeting Professional International (MPI).

In 1996 Linnie moved to Hong Kong to start her job as Project Manager at the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA). Her task was to promote the Netherlands as a destination for Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese companies to set up their European presence.

In November 2006 Linnie was asked to re-open the NFIA office in Singapore. As Area Director Linnie is responsible for the foreign direct investment flow to the Netherlands from companies from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
